None at all! Rock-About's Beginner Rock Climbing Course is designed specifically for first-timers. Our AMGA-certified guides teach everything from scratch—knot tying, belaying, climbing technique, and safety procedures. All gear is provided. You literally just show up.

Rock-About welcomes families with kids as young as 7 on our beginner courses. There's no upper age limit—we've taught climbers from 7 to 70+. Our guides adapt instruction to each participant's comfort and ability level.

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows full range of motion—think yoga pants, athletic shorts, or stretchy hiking pants. Avoid jeans and skirts. Closed-toe shoes for hiking to the crag; we provide climbing shoes once there. Bring sunscreen, water, and a hat.

Rock-About's Beginner Rock Climbing Course runs approximately 5 hours, giving you plenty of time for instruction, practice, and multiple climbs. This isn't a rushed experience—you'll have time to learn properly and climb with confidence.

Customers may cancel or reschedule their booking for a full refund, in the case of a cancellation, with at least 72 hours' notice before the scheduled start time. Cancellations or rescheduling requests made within 72 hours of the booking are not eligible for a refund.

Customers will be notified to reschedule in case of operator cancellation due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If the customer cannot reschedule, they will be refunded. Contact us by email to cancel or inquire about a cancellation. No-shows will be charged the full price.
