    Rock-About's guided trip is typically 5 days, but custom durations are available. This gives you 3-4 full climbing days plus travel. Contact us to discuss trip length that fits your schedule and goals.

  • What skill level do I need for El Potrero Chico?

    Intermediate to advanced climbing ability is recommended. You should be comfortable lead climbing at 5.8+ and ideally have multi-pitch experience. Rock-About's guide tailors route selection to your level, so we can accommodate a range of abilities within the group.

  • Is it safe to travel to El Potrero Chico, Mexico?

    Yes. El Potrero Chico is located near the small town of Hidalgo, Nuevo León, which has a well-established international climbing community. The area is safe, friendly, and accustomed to visiting climbers. Rock-About guides have been leading trips here for years and handle all logistics.

  • What is included in the guided climbing trip?

    Rock-About's guided trip includes: AMGA-certified guide for all climbing days, route selection and instruction tailored to your level, all technical climbing gear, trip logistics and planning. Accommodation, food, and ground transportation within Mexico are included in the $725 per person price. Guided climbing by a Rock-About guide is available as an add-on — contact us for pricing.

  • Can beginners join the multi-day trip?

    While most participants are intermediate or advanced, motivated beginners who have completed Rock-About's Beginner and Lead courses may be able to join on select single-pitch climbing days. Contact us to discuss your experience level and goals.
